Don't Push Me! Collision-Avoiding Swarms
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper examines a novel particle swarm algorithm which has been applied to the generation of interactive, improvised music. An important feature of this algorithm is a balance between particle attraction to the centre of mass and repulsive, collision avoiding forces. These forces are not present in the classic particle swarm optimisation algorithms. A number of experiments illuminate the nature of these new forces and it is suggested that the algorithm may have applications to dynamic optimisation problems.

Model Predictive Control of Swarms of Spacecraft Using Sequential Convex Programming
This paper presents a decentralized, model predictive control algorithm for the optimal guidance and reconfiguration of swarms of spacecraft composed of hundreds to thousands of agents with limited capabilities. In previous work,J2-invariant orbits have been found to provide collision-freemotion for hundreds of orbits in a lowEarth orbit. This paper develops real-time optimal control algorithms...
متن کاملCoverage of curves in 3D with swarms of nonholonomic aerial robots
This paper presents a vector field based methodology for coverage of curves in threedimensional spaces with large groups of fixed-wing aerial robots. We model the robots as spheres with an associated nonholonomic kinematic model with minimum forward speed constraint. Under certain assumptions we guarantee that the robots will converge to and circulate along a desired curve avoiding inter-robot ...
متن کاملIwscff 17-42 Distributed Fast Motion Planning for Spacecraft Swarms in Cluttered Environments Using Spherical Expansions and Sequence of Convex Optimization Problems
This paper presents a novel guidance algorithm for spacecraft swarms in an environment cluttered with many obstacles like a debris field or the asteroid belt. The objective of this algorithm is to reconfigure the swarm to a desired formation in a distributed manner while minimizing fuel and avoiding collisions among themselves and with the obstacles. The agents first use a spherical-expansion-b...

This paper presents a decentralized, model predictive control algorithm for the reconfiguration of swarms of spacecraft composed of hundreds to thousands of agents with limited capabilities. In our prior work, sequential convex programming has been used to determine collision-free, fuel-efficient trajectories for the reconfiguration of spacecraft swarms. This paper uses a model predictive contr...
متن کاملElastic and Inelastic Collisions of Swarms
Scattering interactions of swarms in potentials that are generated by an attraction-repulsion model are studied. In free space, swarms in this model form a well-defined steady state describing the translation of a stable formation of the particles whose shape depends on the interaction potential. Thus, the collision between a swarm and a boundary or between two swarms can be treated as (quasi)-...
